Educational Workshops
Our aim is to make children’s needs, views, abilities and interests the starting point of the design and planning of a new play development and have found a number of learning opportunities to accompany our products which can be either informal or curriculum based.
-
Planting
Our planters and raised beds encourage the introduction of botany and plant observation within the school grounds. Stimulating their interest and senses the children should be encouraged to touch, smell and if appropriate taste a variety of plants, discovering interesting characteristics about them as they plant them. Pupils will be able to take pride in their accomplishments as they watch their gardens grow and flourish.
-
Willow
Stepping outside to construct a ‘green’ and living willow structure that creates shade and provides an interesting, soothing, learning environment. Through respectful observation and positive involvement, children can learn to play an important role in the processes of renewal and restoration.
-

Design
Collect the children’s ideas and wish-lists in a manner that will help them be creative, have fun, explore, learn and communicate, starting with a brainstorming session to get them thinking about the possibilities for their future playground.
-

Site Surveys
A very good way of allowing children to interact with their immediate environment is to challenge them to create an accurate survey of their school or local area.
-

Engravings
Our unique way to individualise a variety of our standard products and to provide the children with a real sense of ownership, is achieved through capturing the children’s own ideas, drawings and designs on paper which we will then engrave onto the selected products back in our workshop.
