Living Willow

Living Willow is a joy and structures such as arches, domes and tunnels can create shade and provide interesting, soothing, learning environments. Including a willow structure in a school grounds development is a wonderful symbol for progressive environmental education and because willow is fast growing gains an established look in a short period – ideal for quick, effective shelter.
Through respectful observation and positive involvement, children can learn to play an important role in the processes of renewal and restoration.

Growing willow is an adventure where there are no failures, just a fabulous opportunity to make positive links with the living world around us.
Many fun activities can be had from the harvesting of the withies year after year. Harvested between November and January they can be used to create bird feeders, shooting stars and many other willow sculptures.
