Our most popular product range has had a makeover.
And while children get to grips with fresh Trim Trail adventures on the playground, our customers can enjoy cost reductions afforded by the new equipment designs.
Manufactured in the UK to stringent safety and quality standards, our Trim Trail playground products are now better than ever before.
Climbing, twisting, jumping, hopping, crawling, swinging, reaching, scrambling: the whole package encourages young people to get into the outdoors and play.
The redesigned range features dozens of products, with many more due to become available soon, opening up endless combination and layout possibilities.
And with a money-in-your-pocket saving on these items, every budget goes that little bit further.

That not only means better play value, but also better value for money.
Working with our trusted design department and engaging the skills of our highly trained carpenters, we have been able to reengineer the shapes of the best-loved playground equipment in the Trim Trails collection.

This design process has created new opportunities to incorporate traditional carpentry techniques into the production system at our purpose-built timber workshop, leading to quicker manufacturing times and shorter installation periods on site.

The new Trim Trail range also offers cost savings when it comes to defining the area needing to be surfaced on site.
And by manufacturing all products in house, we can now offer enhanced integration between our sales, production, dispatch and installation advisers.

James Wilkinson, associate director of Hand Made Places, said: “The Trim Trail range is not only more cost effective, the decisions we’ve taken in the development of the products have also resulted in a much higher quality finish.

“By using large, square section laminated redwood timbers it significantly reduces the issue of splits, cracks and warping which is a common problem with single section timbers. It is also much stronger structurally.

“Square edged timbers are also easier for users to grip and stand on in wet conditions compared to round timbers and so also reduces the risk of injury.
“Everything in the range has been designed to stringent safety standards – but that doesn’t mean we’ve had to cut out the fun.

“Having peace of mind means customers are making an informed decision about their playground investment – so they can let their imaginations go wild when they choose what to buy or how challenging to make their own Trim Trail.”
Trim Trail equipment costs start from £100 and all products are suitable for children aged three and above as well as adult users.
With more products due to be added to the range very soon, it is targeted at users of all ages, abilities and confidence levels.

Championing UK manufacturing

Hand Made Places was established in 2000 and became part of the family-owned Broxap group of companies in 2008.
Demonstrating a commitment to UK manufacturing, our parent company invested £80,000 in a new fully equipped timber workshop last year (2020).
With access to state-of-the-art five axis CNC machinery and the cost advantages of scaling up our operations from a single site, we have been able to bring about innovations that benefit our clients and our end users as well as the business.

Efficient workflow and easier communication enables Hand Made Places to be more responsive to customers and make important changes quickly and effectively.
And crucially, our core value of developing high quality, safe, long-lasting products that deliver learning opportunities through imaginative and physical play has never been compromised.
In fact we have a strengthened focus on offering the best play equipment in the country as part of our role in Broxap’s single source solution to the street furnitureshelters, outdoor play, and fitness markets.
