Imaginative Sculptures

Who knows what’s hiding in the playground – a beautiful butterfly or a scary sea monster? With a sculpture from Hand Made Places, every outdoor area becomes a doorway to a new experience.

Our timber sculptures are created by our team of talented craftspeople based at the Hand Made Places factory in North Staffordshire.

From this dedicated timber workshop we use the latest cutting edge machinery as well as traditional carpentry techniques to manufacture fun animal faces, tactile installations and imaginative playground seating.

Everyday vehicles are given a twist just for children with the likes of our play train or tractor. We even offer a petrol pump.

Our swan seat or horse and cart can provide a place for thinking and resting or can form the starting point for a imaginative journey into a world of let’s pretend.

School gardens and sensory playgrounds are given depth and extra layers of interest and activity with the addition of sculptures.

It could be a stunning single centrepiece sculpture, like a magnificent dragonfly, snake or shark, adds an element of a surprise to encourage further exploration among children venturing into a play area.

Or our collection of farmyard animals, including a sheep, cow, bull and hog is perfect for a themed playground, bringing the countryside to urban areas.

Our friendly animal face totems are wheelchair accessible and can be incorporated into trails, quizzes and lessons. They also complement different environments such as woodlands and wetlands and can be used to support learning on themes such as conservation.

From insects to reptiles, the variation in our range means the possibilities are endless when it comes to designing an intriguing outdoor play area that captures the attention of visitors young and old.
