Hand Made Places have helped to create new outdoor play and learning areas for the pupils at Alton Infant School in Hampshire.

The school opted for a bespoke rainbow pergola to offer shade, creating a new outdoor classroom area which is suitable for use in all weather conditions.

The interesting UV-protected rainbow roof offers children a fun and interesting alternative to their regular classroom.

By combining the outdoor elements with learning activities, the young children can enjoy learning through play in a relaxed outdoor environment.

This outdoor classroom area includes:

  • chalk board & dry wipe board pair, perfect for children or their teachers to use during outdoor lesson time.
  • an extra large sand pit which can also be used for learning through play or to demonstrate weighing, measuring and transporting.
  • Mini-Microworld Table, popular for imaginative role play and even developing EYFS communication as children learning the sounds certain animals make.

In addition to the products featured beneath the pergola, Hand Made Places also installed a Star Stage and chimes elsewhere on the playground. The school chose these two pieces not only to inspire creativity but also to encourage children to perform.

Encouraging performance can help to build self-confidence and boost self-esteem.

We also installed a quirky concave Mirror. This is one of our popular outdoor activity panels and provides endless giggles for little ones whilst they observe different perspectives.

To complete this stimulating play area, the school chose modular radius seating for a spot of relaxation amongst all that outdoor play.
