Cropthorne with Charlton First School is a small, beautiful school set in the heart of Worcestershire. Having worked together in 2009 we were delighted to hear from the school again when they were considering the development of their next outdoor space.
The brief was to turn a very small tarmac area at the front of the school into a stimulating, bright, inspiring learning area with opportunities for physical and imaginative play. Having already completed a very successful project on site the school were open to our ideas so it was up to our consultant Kerry and designer Luke to set to work on some inspiring plans! We were thrilled that we ‘got it right first time’ with our design proposal which included a small pole climbing structure, stage and canopy, sensory panels, mirrors, blackboards, storytelling area and soft sensory artificial grass. The result is a space that has been transformed from an underutilised dull area into an inviting learning environment that is an impressive feature at the front of the school.
School Admin Officer Jane Evans said ‘We are delighted with our exciting new play area, it is lovely to see the children’s imagination run wild as they plan their game and act it out.’
