Case Study: William Tyndale School, London

William Tyndale School, London

We were first approached by William Tyndale School at the Nursery World Show in February 2011.They were under going a large building refurbishment project and alongside this they wanted to developing their extensive tarmac playgrounds.  Hand Made Places unique products impressed the staff and we were invited to visit the school to discuss some ideas.

The school is a happy, vibrant place with a no uniform policy and around 450 children attending aged 4-11 years. They were looking to develop all 4 playgrounds for Nursery, Reception, KS1 and KS2 so it soon became clear this was a big project! There was very little equipment in place in the grounds so we were really starting with a blank canvas –  a challenge we love! The staff at school had lots of great ideas and after several meetings with our consultant Hand Made Places were thrilled to be selected from 10 companies and awarded the project in July 2011.

Work on the 6 week project site started in August 2011 and the result was a total transformation from a very large but fairly bare tarmac playground to an inspiring, buzzing play space and learning environment including a bespoke giant climbing tower, growing garden, weather proof outdoor classroom, performance stage, a stimulating outdoor environment for early years and much, much more!
