Playing and exploring is a characteristic of effective learning.

Playground equipment including sculptures, finger mazes and our range of imaginative play equipment provide opportunities for early year’s children to develop language and vocabulary. Our outdoor blackboard and whiteboard can create an outdoor learning environment where children can express their creativity through mark making, drawing and writing.

The Hand Made Places playground experts design early year’s spaces and make allowance for special places to this element of the curriculum. The early year’s space can combine a number of items such as seating, a storyteller’s chair, a story circle or a story house. The storyteller’s chair and story circle encourage early year’s children to read, listen, tell stories and communicate with one another.

An artificial grass lawn with planters can complete the look of an early year’s space. Planters, such as the dragon planter provide a chance for imaginative play whilst creating a sensory environment where children can develop vocabulary and build confidence as they communicate with each other. This all contributes to the development of literacy skills and creates a foundation for developing reading and writing skills.
