Water Trays

Water trays provide us with one of the most significant purposes of play, to explore and experiment. So what better way than to allow children to discover the basics of measuring, displacement and density for themselves? It’s a splash-course in physics! Water movement play is also particularly beneficial for SEN work with children who may prefer a more hands-on approach.

Learning in this way means children use and improve their problem solving skills – How can I make this float? How do I make a barrier? Furthermore, a child develops motor skills whilst splashing about; hand-eye coordination, for example.

As with many of our products, water trays can be used to enhance a themed play area which encourages imaginative play. We recommend presenting a water play station alongside a Pirates & Islands trail, an Octopus Sculpture, and a Whale Springy.

Water play also offers a particularly calming alternative to other games and equipment. Watch countless ripples interact, slow-moving but never still… listen to the changing pitch as water is poured slowly from one container into another… experience the gentle resistance of pushing your hand through the water. There are plenty of ways water play presents children with the opportunity to focus on a single activity as they wind-down.
